What all families need most is love and our parish family is no exception to this rule. There is an abundance of this in St Joseph’s. We all know this, but we also know that families cannot survive without money. For many years the love of parishioners for their parish ( in other words – their love for each other ) has been shown by their generosity with their time, their work and by their gifts, including the gift of money. Most people have heard of covenants by which it is possible for a registered charities to recover the Income Tax paid on money they receive from anyone who pays this tax. From the beginning of this millennium covenants have been replaced by GIFT AID which is much more flexible and much simpler. All that is required of you is that you pay Income Tax and that you sign a one-off letter declaring that you agree to the charity making a claim to the Inland Revenue for the tax paid on your gifts. For every pound you give to charity the Inland Revenue will give a further 28p ! You will not be committed to any particular amount of money and you can stop and start again whenever you wish without bothering to tell either the charity or the Inland Revenue. If you are one of the lucky people who pay Income Tax, please think about this seriousy AND please pray about your decision. So you having made your decision you want to know what to do next. EASY!
