The following two prayers for peace were sent to us from Pakistan by
Arif-ur-Rehman, a Muslim visitor to our parish website shortly after Sept 11.
Merciful God, you made all of the people of the world in your own image
and have placed before us the pathway of salvation through your saints
and prophets. Look with compassion on the whole human family; take
away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts; break down the
walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love; and work through our
struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth; that, in
your good time, all nations and races may serve you in justice, peace
and harmony around your heavenly throne. (Amen)
Merciful God, please give to peoples of the world the required wisdom and determination, to learn to live in peace like brothers and sisters, by ending the divisions and hatreds created by our past and present elders. (Amen)
